February 2024

For many, February embodies the spirit of love and connection, making it a cherished time. It’s a time when relationships are valued, bonds are strengthened, and expressions of love take center stage. In this day and age, we are surrounded by campaigns and slogans of various forms of endearment to embrace our fellow man and ourselves. ”Self-love,” “love is love,” & “love wins” are the battle cries of the current culture. Unfortunately, we live in a society that proclaims love in one breath but champions the death of another in the next.

In the fall of 2022, following the overturning of Roe V. Wade, California Gov. Gavin Newsom paid for billboards in various states to promote abortion travel. One billboard in Oklahoma stated, “Need an abortion? California is ready to help.” The ad also included a section of Mark 12:31: “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” Clearly a blasphemous misrepresentation of the scripture, Newsom and those who support abortion fail to see who our neighbor actually is.

The Pharisee once asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” In response, Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan. He sacrificed time, money, and resources to minister to an individual that nobody else would help; someone no one else would acknowledge as being a human being worthy of dignity and the right to life.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, we at Crossroads love everyone who walks through our doors, including the child growing in the womb that oftentimes has no advocate. We aim to be the Good Samaritan who not only offers support and hope to the woman facing an unplanned pregnancy, but to also be the voice who speaks up & fights for the unborn. In doing so, we believe we are truly loving our neighbor.

Please join us in praying that America, and the world at large, would realize that the unborn are deserving of life and should be afforded the same protections and rights as any other person created in the image of God.

Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die. ~ Psalm 31:8 NKJV
